ESS2024.org is an online platform built to connect social and solidarity economy entities (SEE) with opportunities related to the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. It is the first intermediation programme to connect contracting authorities with SSE companies, the circular economy and local SMEs. Acting as a bridge between public institutions, private contractors, and social economy actors, it fosters inclusive and responsible procurement by creating the first inclusive and solidarity-based Olympic Games.
The platform aimed to ensure that the Paris 2024 Games could enhance a more inclusive, sustainable, and socially responsible economy. By providing SSE organisations with access to public and private contracts related to the Games, the event promoted local employment, social inclusion, and environmental sustainability.
Core activities of ESS2024.org include regular publishing calls for tenders and relevant procurement opportunities tailored to the capabilities and missions of SSE organisations. The platform provides these organisations with resources, training, and advisory support to help them understand the bidding process and meet procurement requirements. The platform also organises workshops, webinars, and networking events to strengthen the SSE ecosystem in the context of Paris 2024.
The impact of ESS2024.org was twofold: Immediate and long-lasting. In the short term, it has increased the visibility of SSE organisations, helping them to secure contracts and contribute meaningfully to the delivery of the Games. This participation has led to job creation, skills development, and the inclusion of individuals who are often marginalised in the labour market. In the long term, the platform helped shift access to markets towards more inclusive and sustainable public procurement practices. ESS2024.org has played a key role in embedding the values of the social and solidarity economy into the legacy of the Paris 2024 Games.
